TRULY AMAZING! May 13, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Clive's debut album simply blows you away. The precision of his playing, the originality of his songs (all his own compositions) and the fact that the album soon becomes completely addictive are all reasons to a) buy this album and b) go and see him live. Now that is an experience you won't forget!
inspirational and simply beautiful guitar playing April 9, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
if you have a love of the guitar, this album is both an inspiration and a joy to listen to.Clive Carroll is a very special talent, and his first cd ( recorded when he was just 24yrs old) is a masterpiece. He mixes an incredible classical technique with traditional irish and celtic roots. The highlight is one of the most beautiful pieces of guitar playing i have ever heard - 'Secrets'. An absolute 'must have' for any guitar player
Extraordinary talent October 5, 2001 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Saw this guy play live last night together with John Renbourn and was completely blown away. Still young he has a musical range that makes Clapton look dead ordinary. All tracks on this disc are Carroll's own and each pushes the technical as well as creative barriers on the guitar. In one word, brilliant!
Solo guitar playing doesn't get much better than this! January 9, 2001 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
On the first hearing of this album one is immediately stuck by the depth and understanding this young man has of the accoustic guitar. His compositions for the guitar covor a wide variety of styles from traditional Irish to Jazz Blues. From Classsical to Micheal Hedges finger tapping. There is something for everyone. Only, if you think you can play the guitar well, then I recomend that you not listen to this chaps CD as I have not played my gutar since listening to it. He will make you sick with his amaizing tallent and feel that you never want to pick up a guitar again. If however you are strong hearted then I highly recomend this as a great piece of work. This is one to watch out for. A great debut CD.
