| Customer Reviews:
great songs generally great mixing March 28, 2006 the hiphop side of this album is truly killer. every one of those songs are hand picked bona fide classics that if you dont already own you will surely recognise from the dance floor. Buuuuut for me personally the sould side is kinda lame. i prefer a little more bump n grind n liveliness to my soul and most of this stuff is a little slow. percy sledge? comeon! my parents used to slow dance to him! wheres ike and tina getting nasty for example? weak complaint i guess but if you like the solomon burke otis redding style ballards then you cant go wrong. Plus i gotta say (and this hurts) i thought premos scatching is a little weak here. intrusive where it shouldnt be. what a negative way to write about an album with so many good songs on... try reading about an ablum i hate.

...any informed hip-hop listener will know this man's pedigree and I bought this CD purely on the strength of the fact he had mixed one of the discs. It proved a wise decision as I can't get enough og his mix, some classic and some rare and some well-known soul tunes worked to perfection. What's so great is that he never overdoes the scrathing, doing enough spin-backs etc to work the tune whilst allowing it to breath. I would buy the CD on the strength of the Grover Washington sax number alone, great tune! Mr Thing's mix is more clubby but I liked it all the same, ODB etc worked in with some Pete Rock, all good.Buy it, you won't be disappointed, truely as the title of the album says...
