Dissapointed August 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Pre-ordered the unmixed version of this on vinyl, and I was thoroughly disappointed. It springs to mind Sasha is now moving in the direction of building up critical applause, rather than his original motive of giving the dance floor what they wanted. The result is a boring, lacklustre album that has no pulling power. Even for the deep and moody fans, this is deeper than a mafia 'body pit'.
For now, Northern Exposure is still in the CD player...
Nice Choons June 22, 2008 Reading through previous reviews Emfire has being given as much stick as positives. This collection reminds me of the way early Sasha, for example Arkham Asylum and his remix of Horse Careful.
Epic track for me is the remix of Who Killed Sparky, which alone is worth the 6.50 that is being asked for a 2 cd Sasha fest. The tunes and the complexity of the beat in that are superb. The original Coma stands out too. CD 2 is the better of the two with the 5th track being a 30 min score, which reminds me of the early days with BT :)
Sasha for 6 and a half quid: You need it in your collection :)
Worth the price. June 20, 2008 After listening to disc 1 I wasn't even going to bother listen to disc 2. Glad I read the previous reviews. The origonal tracks are far better than any of te remixes. The movie soundtrack is great as background music. Might even get the movie when the price is right.
A bit patchy... May 22, 2008 Having read positive reviews of this album I had high hopes so I have to say found it a bit disappointing. There are 2 disks, strangely the first disk contains remixes whilst the second contains the original tracks (4 of them) plus a 40 minute track, a film score for New Emissions of Light & Sound. Of the original tracks Coma is ok, very Sasha by numbers, quite lush, a bit Trance-y, progressive. It's definitely a grower but offers little we've not heard from him before. The other 3 tracks do attempt to do something different. Park It in the shade isn't to my taste, too minimal, but I liked Who Killed Sparky and Mongoose, both of which have a bit of James Holden feel and showing that Sasha can do something more than straight prog house. If he wants to remain relevant this is the sort of stuff he should make more of. The final track on the disc is the aforementioned film score for `New Emissions...'. It's very pleasant but sounds a lot like outtakes from airdrawndagger. Again nothing different here, but it is a beautiful piece of music in places.
As for Disc 1 as other reviewers have mentioned the remixes offer little, most are pretty dull and minimal, and none is up to the standard of the originals.

Waste of money. They all sound the same! He could and has done WAY better.
