I always knew cyndi was a legend but I was never really what you could call a keen follower/die hard fan of the cyndi lauper phenomenon. Well, she made me think again when I saw her on the Graham Norton show the other day. She seemed so emotional, so hand on hard, pure, genuine and completely devoid of any fancy, pretentious, egocentric celebrity make-up that I fell in love with her a little bit. Then she performed her new single 'into the nightlife' and I was utterly spellbound. What a show and what a brilliant song! I rushed to buy the album and I was stunned. It's so her yet so now and so damn bouncy. Honestly, this is the best album I've bought in a long time. 'Into the nightlife' is an absolute gem, catchy, loaded with the best harmonies and beats, and the grooviest lyrics to hit the dancefloors in years. Other high quality tracks include the trip-hop infused 'rocking chair', the upbeat yet moving 'echo', the poignantly cynical 'same ol'story', the aphrodisiac 'lay me down', or the immediately involving and gripping 'rain on me'. What a come back from such a an icon, an artist, an activist, a militant and a true inspiration! I have become the most dedicated fan on the back of this album. This woman is a blessing and a force to be honoured. Respect!

I've always dabbled with Cyndi's music over the years, but never really got 100% into it, until i heard this album. Its the best music i've heard this year and i can't stop listening to it, in the car, house and sadly...not in work cause i ain't allowed!!, but even then all i can do is walk about singing the tunes in my head.
Rocking Chair, Into the Night, Same Ole Story....every track has you singing along or wanting to get up and dance. Its great to see Cyndi back and getting the acclaim she is WELL overdue. Seeing her in concert too!!
A great purchase its not been out of my player since i got it.
