Good Album, But Kano Needs To Move Out Of That Street! October 7, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is an album for the streets. If you loved London Town because it was musically a great album with the different genres and artists he had, you will not think this is a suitable follow up. If you loved Home Sweet Home and thought K-A left grime, this is an album for you. Overall K-A has alot of energy and sounds hungry. With 'the underground king' Ghetto back on the album, along with the long anticipated song with 'the Godfather of Grime' Wiley and the 'King of Grime' Skepta, this will not disappoint any grime fans. But i will add, with the exceptions of 'Hunting We Will Go', and the tracks produced by Wiley and Skepta, the beats are not the grimiest you'll ever hear. 'Paper' and even 'Hustler' sounds very American influenced, with the latter sounding similar to T.I's 'Hurt. If your looking for a 'This Is The Girl' or 'Nite Nite' track, you WON'T find it on here. To be honest every song is as good as each other, with the exception of maybe a few. Some songs could have been made longer, there are two songs where he spits acapella which i thought he done for mixtapes. If you like Kano, give it a go. Like grime, not the best grime album. Listening for progress, wont find it. Hopefully K-A does 'Aim For The Sky' with his next album and in the future and give back to grime only in mixtapes. But K-A is still one of or even thee best in the business.
grime AIN'T dead!! October 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is Kano on top form! The beats are killer, the hooks are addictive, his lyrics are on the pulse, and testaments to his talent are definitely in his skits. After years of being a fan of American hip hop, I feel this East London based rapper is a breath of fresh air and we definitely need more. Collaborations with the likes of Wiley and Skepta will leave no one is doubt that K-A is back to his grime roots.
