Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
The Killers might hail from one of the USA's most quintessentially American cities (Las Vegas), but their debut album Hot Fuss displays an Anglophilic streak that is an ocean wide. Steeped in the back-catalogue of the Smiths and Pulp, with broad 80s synth sweeps cloaking each tale of fraught metrosexual romance, this band clearly rate the swoon over the swagger. Still, this is almost entirely an upbeat record, one made for the packed club than the smoky VIP room; in particular "On Top", "Somebody Told Me" and "Mr Brightside" are tremendous examples of breathless indie-pop that gallop along like a lovestuck heartbeat with frontman Brandon Flowers gasping for breath on the claustrophobic disco floor. This is, inarguably, what the Killers do best. Even when they deviate from form they've got a few neat ideas--see the gospel choir that echoes back Flowers' repeated exclamation "I've got soul/ But I'm not a soldier" on "All These Things I've Done", or the self-consciously epic "Indie Rock'n'Roll", delivered by the Killers with all the fireworks and gusto of a curtain-closing Broadway showtune. --Louis Pattison

3 out of 5 stars Not very original   August 25, 2008

I bought this album because I really like the track 'Mr Brightside' which is excellent and easily the best thing on the album. Some of the others are ok but I couldn't listen to this from start to finish as it would annoy me intensely. The reason I'm not that fond of it is because I often struggle to see a lot in mainstream pop music generally - it all seems to have either been done before or just doesn't mean anything to me I'm afraid! I appreciate that the band have been immensely successful and I would imagine that if you saw them live it would be a great performance. Not really my kind of thing on a CD though.

3 out of 5 stars not bad   May 4, 2008

Very derivative of 80's pop (duran duran, cure, smiths, etc). Little originality but sometimes that's not a bad thing. Lack the musicality and serious musicianship of, say, a Muse. In ten years time no one will remember them, but this album is ok when you are feeling a bit nostalgic for your youth (if you're 30 or 40)and dont necessarily want to pull out the more embarressing oldies from your collection.

4 out of 5 stars A killer album .   March 3, 2008
A cracking album with stand out tracks that many people will be familiar with from their airplay on the radio . The other tracks grow on you with repeated plays . Turn up the volume and enjoy .

5 out of 5 stars The Killers deliver!   December 9, 2007
When I first heard the Killers ("Someone Told Me") I feared they were going to be a one hit band. How suprised was I when I first heard "Hot Fuss". Man this was cool, finally another good band from the US (since the Strokes), a breath of fresh air in my UK Indie dominated collection.

Their second album even surprised me more, they were able to top Hot Fuss (that's my opinion). Even their new collection of B-sides "Sawdust" is really decent.

The only critic is that, after listening again and again, musically they are somewhat limited. They produce catchy tunes, sure, but don't expect any groundbreaking solo's (although they are also great live, I've seen them). Smooth productions and Brandon Flowers is what makes the Killers great! But who cares, they rock big time!

5 out of 5 stars The Killers. <3   November 17, 2007
I Recently Bought Hot Fuss + Sam's Town Together [ Great Price Amazon! ] And Was Not Dissapointed!

For Just Over 10 The Set Makes A PERFECT Gift For Any Killers Fan!

The Songs On Both Cd's Are Great; On Sam's Town Yooh Can Hear That There Is A Bit Of A Variaty Of The Genre Of Songs There; But It's Not OTT!

The Killers Are My Favie Band EVER And I Would Reccomend Buying Their Albums; Even If You've Only Heard One Song And Liked It!
