Musical Excellence! August 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a fairly recent Goo Goo Dolls fan (before this year I'd only ever heard Iris!) I am stunned by this collection. I already have Greatest Hits Vol. 1, Dizzy Up The Girl and What I Learned About Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce. I have to say that I was a bit nervous about hearing this collection of songs but having listened to it several times today, it's just amazing. It shows the brilliant versatility of a band that's been around for over 20 years and has grown and evolved into something very special. None of the songs sound like any of the others, there are raucous songs and soft, sentimental ones. There's really nothing to dislike about the whole collection. I was even pleasantly surprised by the demo version of Iris, so good to hear it how it started out. There are a couple of live tracks too so you get a good feel of what they're like in concert. Then, on the DVD you have all the videos which are brilliant and the Red Rocks concert tracks just show you what an amazing band The Goo Goo Dolls are. I will never get bored with this collection. I'd most definitely recommend it, not just to fans but to anyone who likes musical versatility as much as I do!
Greatest Hits Vol. 2 July 24, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Ok Folks, Here It Is Goo Goo Dolls Greatest Hits Vol. 2! I Was Quite Surprised They Never Used Any Of The Tracks They Put On The "Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce" Album (Which Was There First Complilation Album Containing Old & New Album Tracks From Before The Iris Era) But The Tracks They Picked For This Album Are The Ones I Always Felt Were Missing From The "Ego" Album, Tracks Like "Long Way Down" "Stop The World" & "I'm Awake Now" and There Are Great Covers On This Album Too Like "Million Miles Away" "I Don't Wanna Know" & "Don't Change", The Album Also Contains A Great Demo Version Of "Iris", But I Have To Say The Real Gem Of This Greatest Hits Is The DVD! 17 Videos Including "Iris" "Slide" & "Name" And A Full Live Show At Red Rocks Containing 19 Tracks, I Mean This Album Is A Must For Every Goo Goo Dolls Fan, If Your Just Looking For An Album After You've Bought The First Greatest Hits Then Buy "Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce" Buy This For The DVD!!!!
