Amazon.co.uk Review There seem to be two major camps of U2 fans now: Those who dig the early albums (good and sensible people), and those who only like the ones from the 1990s, putting everything previous down as "classic rock." But U2 only became a classic rock sort of band in 1984, with The Unforgettable Fire. The real early stuff, from '80 to '83, still comes off as edgy--and it's comparatively ignored. Here's a sampler: Under a Blood Red Sky is from a U.S. tour (1983's) in which U2 still thought of itself as a hungry little band from Ireland--and draws (fairly wisely) from the band's first three albums. There's nary a misstep on the entire disc, although it could stand a few more tracks. --Gavin McNett

not as it was!!!! October 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Still Brill!!! BUT & only a tiny BUT this is still an edited version & not as my original vinyl mini LP, "the Electric Co (track 6) is 45 seconds shy missing out "send in the clowns" lyrics don't know about the remastered vinyl but the CD/DVD package is short
Great album but why only 8 tracks on the re-release? September 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Back in 1984 this was the first U2 album I bought as a teenager and I played it to death! The opening of Gloria never fails to raise the hairs on the back of my neck and take me back to being 15 again. Fantastic document of a great live band at their best, before they went global at Live Aid. (I'll never forget a friend at school telling me that I'd been to see U2 before they were famous because I saw them at the 35,000 capacity Milton Keynes Bowl - shows what an odd definition of "famous" applies to U2!)
However when I saw the video a few years later I felt cheated that the album only had 8 tracks when the video had more than twice that. We've now seen the first three albums reissued with loads of new stuff so why not a bigger and better Under a Blood Red Sky? Good to see the DVD release at last but how about something for those of us who like to listen to our music rather than watching it?
I'll stick to playing my old CD rather than throwing some more money into the bursting U2 coffers!
The start of my U2 journey January 5, 2008 This is a must for any U2 fan! The power and passion of the band is all here.I Remember being 13 and hearing New Years Day playing on someones stereo, and thought, who is that,i need to hear more, and i did,and was hooked!! The video is great to with more tracks,i just hope it is re-mastered into 5.1 DVD.
Great live album! But bad sound quality! July 15, 2005 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is a great live album! And U2 play wonderfully! The songs are taken from there first three albums. U2 to used to be (and still are) a great live band. And the vibe coming from this music is fantastic! But! Yes there is a but! The sound quality is not all that good. (That's why I gave it 4 stars). So if you are a serious fan buy this! If you just like the newer stuff. And like listening to U2 on the radio, don't buy it. It's a great album though!

I can remember seeing U2 live 23 years ago before they were famous This CD captures the sheer energy of their performances at that time and it is easy to see why they went on to become one of the biggest bands in the world . It has an elegant simplicity about it and still makes the hairs stand up on the back of my head!! For a new generation of U2 fans reared on Bono et al as they are today THIS is where it all started! Listen ! Enjoy!!
