Petula, Then and Now, and, it seems, Forever June 25, 2008 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
Superb compilation with the obligatory chart successes of the 50s and 60s, some 70s tracks from her acclaimed "Memphis" and Warm and Tender" albums; a couple of fine duets with Michael McDonald and Dusty Springfield; a tribute to Queen; some excellent tracks from 2002, and most especially 4 new songs. Petula's voice is better, stronger and more soulful than ever on these fantastic, largely self-penned, rather reflective songs, recorded in London, New York, and the fantastic new studios of Arthanor Productions in Geneva in 2008 and with production by John Williams and David Hadzis. Difficult to say which I like best; each one is special in its own way.
The album has made the UK album charts, which, if I'm not mistaken, means that Petula has broken her own record as the longest live chart artiste in the world..... 1954 to 2008 (previously 2005). Way to go Pet.
She goes on and on, and gets better and better.
For Petula fans, don't miss this, whatever you do. The new songs are amazing. For others who don't know Pet apart from Downtown, this album really does what it says...It is Petula Then and Now.
It would be worth every penny at twice the price! I just hope she's working on a new album now.
Four brandnew songs of Petula June 22, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Petula is marvellous in her new songs! My favourite is "Come Along With Me". As a fan since exactly 20 years, I am refreshed by the new songs on this album. Another lovely thing is the super jewel case! 4 brandnew songs on this album, some of Petulas legendary hits, a few years old songs and a new mixed version of her Dusty-Springfield-Duetm, that she recorded some years after Dustys dead! This album is a must for every fan und for people, who want to become a fanship of Petula Clark!
A Definitive Hits [and More] Collection! June 16, 2008 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I'm so thrilled with this new compilation from the wonderful, legendary Petula Clark because not only is it filled with her top, household name hits, you also have some new songs. An extra special treat are the previously unreleased tracks and the beautiful duet with fellow 60s icon Dusty Springfield. If you're a Pet fan, you really should check this compilation out and if you're somebody who is new to her uplifting pop music, this is the perfect starting point. A brilliant album, recommened!
