| Customer Reviews:
Finally - a proper album of THE PROFESSIONALS music! July 12, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
About the only criticism that I can make of this set - the second in the series of Laurie Johnson recordings - is that the first disc, which is slections of music score from THE PROFESSIONALS tv series, is in mono only. It's a shame, but a minor criticism.
This set is a great overview once more of Laurie Johnson's varied output, but I think it will be THE PROFESSIONALS that is the big draw here, as the contents of the other two CDs in the set consist in the main of previously-released material. But, its all GOOD material, featuring a selection of Johnson's feature film scores, and some of his best known theme tunes. His concert hall in particular is always worth hearing- mixing jazz and classic in the inimitable Laurie Johnson style.
And to cap it all, 78 minutes of music from THE PROFESSIONALS. 70's TV scoring at its funkiest. If you like noodling electric guitars, plenty of bass guitar and some very deep and punchy drums, liberally flavoured with brass and latin percussion, this music is for you.
I very much hope THE NEW AVENGERS is next in line for this treatment, but I hope too that Mr Johnson and the Edsel team can maybe give us another volume of THE PROFESSIONALS as well.
Copious notes complete the package in well illustrated booklets. 3 discs for an extremely reasonable price. Highly recommended.
