Life in my wardrobe August 16, 2008 At the young of age of teen something I experienced a "Bonzo" moment, this made me jump up, run outside and sell my ruptered spleen to a passing gypsy.Ever since, I have lived in my wardrobe hoping one day to become a pygmy, and I do believe it's happening, yours dimimishingly, MJM
Utterly fantastic! July 13, 2008 Can't really say anything more, but I will. I was introduced to them through 'Ali Baba's Camel', but everything else is brilliant as well. I'm a bit worried about listening to it in public because it makes me laugh so much. In particular: 'Look out, there's a Monster coming', 'Trouser Press' and the wonderful 'My brother makes the noises for the Talkies'. Very talented indeed. & 'Hello Mabel'. In fact, every track is superb.
Buy it now, please!
You Done My Brain In- And Thank God You Did! April 27, 2008 Having read the existing reviews there's little I can do but echo the sentiments expressed. I bought my first copy of 'Gorilla' in 1968 and played it to death along with'Doughnut'. This compilation drags me unresisting back to the sixties and seventies - maybe it should be marketed as an elixir of youth. I can't think of a single track I don't like, but several I think outstanding:'Death Cab for Cutie', 'We Were Wrong', 'Sport','Quiet Talks and Summer Walks'and 'the wonderful 'Bad Blood', which should give a valuable insight into the state of my mind. Have a bad day? Then just Bonzo it, although whether you should play it when driving or operating machinery is open to debate. Worth any amount of money, but don't come round for it yet boys. Aaaaaarghh!! I forgot 'Look out There's a Monster Coming' - Lonely unmarried looking for love? What's wrong with my tie, am I getting too high? Absolutely, and I've no intention of coming down. Thanks guys, you've given me forty years of mind blowing happiness-and here's to Viv, he should be canonised.
THE BONZOS: THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION February 6, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was a huge fan of Niel Innes from the Innes Book of Records and never really delved back any further than Urban Spaceman until quite recently. In searching Amazon for any Neil innes material I came upon a number of Items including this amazing collection. All the albums plus a number of additions. This collection has been played constantly in my car and is also a keen favourite of my 10 yr old daughter who accompanied me to see the bonzo`s live at wolverhampton. If you have the slightest interest in the bonzos and want to hear more then just get cornology; youll not need any other.

I got into the Bonzos following a recommendation by my Dada to watch a documentary by John Peel about the band's lives and works. That's how it started. Then I bought the "Bestiality" Best Of Album and have been hooked since. You don't know what's coming next with this compilation - some tracks are comical and amusing, others satirical rippings of various musical genres.... I think. It is quite late after all! There are some whistlable tunes here and you'll be singing some strange lyrics to yourself in the coffee room at work while others look at you as if you're mad. I'm seriously into this at the moment and can't help thinking I will take up the tuba..... buy it now, if you have a penchant for something different and off-the-wall. Which they undoubtedly were.
