MikeUSA October 27, 2008 I am just about to order this album from Amazon. I give it 5 stars since it will likely have most of the songs that I love and maybe a few new ones. I listen to his music almost daily. I have listened to Russell's voice mature over the years, and I can say for sure that it is getting even better. The Voice is my personal favorite where he diplays his incredible tenor voice. Some say he can't sing opera. I totally disagree. His youthful, clear sound is amazing as he seems to reach incredible heights with ease. Not a well seasoned Povarotti or Mario Lanza, but different and refreshing.
My other favorite is Amore Musica. Here, you can tell that his voice has matured. But he can still hit the high C's. The choice of songs is fantastic, my favorite being Elgar's We Will Stand Together (Nimrod). What is amazing about Russell is that he can change almost instantly from operetic tenor to a beautiful pop voice. I certainly hope that his health problems will be resolved and that I can listen to him for years to come.
If you only buy 1 Russell Watson cd - It should be this one October 15, 2008 I will confess to being a Russell Watson fan and have been for many years, so I'm biased. But, if you want to get an idea of what he's about and why they call him 'The Voice', buy this cd.
Russell has NEVER claimed to be an opera singer, he just has a beautiful, rich and powerful voice that can tackle opera with as much ease as pop.
I have heard his voice mature over the years and the voice singing Nessun Dorma now is different to the version on this album, but I defy you not to have the hairs on the back of you neck stand up with the power and emotion of the man.
Nella Fantasie is simply one of his fan's favourite songs, which he doesn't sing often enough nowadays and Ill Gladiatore (based on the theme music from the film Gladiator) is my personal favourite.
I would also suggest that if you get the opportunity to see him perform live, take it. His concerts are really good fun, with the audience joining in with some of the more well known numbers, such as Volare and his famous 'walkabout'; you can then judge for yourself if the title 'The Voice' is deserved.
Keep up the good work Russ and look forward to the new album on 24th November (Happy Birthday too).
Brilliant!!! October 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am not an opera critic, nor a music snob. I simply adore Russell Watson. I have ordered most of his CDs from Amazon UK because they are available here before they are in the States, and many times they include different material than the versions released in the States.
This disc is my favorite since "The Voice". I am completely smitten with it and will probably wear it out before the weekend is over. It is such a change from much of the uninspired music I hear over and over on the radio.
Thank you Russell for the wonderful sounds, and to Amazon UK for the speedy delivery!
Cheers!

Unfortunately you have just shown yourself as being a typical Opera & Classical Music Snob - Sadly it's views like yours that put "Normal" people off listening to these wonderful Songs & beautiful Music & also Singers/Artists like Russell Watson - Yes I love Domingo & Pavarotti - I also love Russell Watson too!!!
Swallow that bitter little pill you are carrying - Just enjoy Music for what it is & what it means to you - If you don't like the Artist - Then don't listen to them!!
Thank You Russell Watson......Just be you, doing what you do.
This is not opera August 31, 2008 1 out of 8 found this review helpful
Russell Watson is not an opera singer but a pop singer who for some reason has made a little talent go a long way and has been quite successful here in the in the uk, due to serval TV shows. If you want to listen to a real tenor try Domingo or good old Pavarotti now these men can sing and have been in many opera's. What opera has Russell Watson been in?
