Genius! December 1, 2008 After reading the reviews, I decided to purchase this CD as I have been trying to encourage my 2 month old into a loose bedtime/nap winding down 'routine'. He would previously fight sleep screaming until eventually falling asleep in our arms, never falling asleep on his own. After only a few days, he now sends himself off to sleep with virtually no fuss and often by the middle of the second track! The vocals are enchanting and beautiful, and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing CD for sending their little ones to sleep.
Best nursery CD I have bought so far November 28, 2008 Loved it and use it to calm my child to sleep all the time. Works every time. Soothing voice on this CD and at a pace that is very relaxing. Comes with lyrics, so you can sing along too. Would thoroughly recommend to my friends.
Love it! November 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Don't pay any attention to these so-called music fans who have criticised this album. It has been beautifully produced and Sophie's voice is perfect for relaxing your baby (and you). Yes, the arrangements are different, but just because the chord progressions may not follow the traditional arrangement does not make them 'wrong' as one reviewer has suggested. These songs have had a lot of thought and emotion put into the arrangement, performance and production. I also loved the spoken nursery rhymes that occasionally pop up between songs. They are short enough not to interrupt the flow of the music, yet their inclusion is enough for a child to notice (and learn) the rhymes. We have played this CD most nights, pretty much since our son's birth, when he is getting ready for bed after his bath, and during his last feed before bed. He's now 4 months and has started singing along... he loves it! If you have an open mind musically then you will love this CD. If you can't imagine hearing these songs any other way than how you remember them as a child however, then maybe you should look for the Fisher Price one...
The ultimate lights out, chill out album! November 13, 2008 Lullaby: a Beautiful and Soothing Collection of Night Time Songs for Children and Grown Ups
This album calms & promotes sleep for our little girl, who is very, very resistant to sleeping! We play it every night at bedtime & then constantly through the evening to keep her asleep, so the repeat button gets a lot of use! The music compilations have been beautifully created & the music is very relaxing for us too! Even my 7 year old likes the CD. The songs literally get in your head & I find myself humming or singing them during the day! Wish we had found the CD earlier, and would recommend to anyone with young children. Can't wait for the rest of the collection to be available.
My baby loves this and so do I! October 14, 2008 Since I've started playing this music to my 5 month old girl at bedtime, she's been so much easier to settle. As soon as I put it on she quietens down and listens to it, usually getting herself off to sleep without any help from me. I find it quite soothing myself and have fallen asleep listening to it. Most of the songs are fairly easy to sing along to if that's what your baby likes. I don't find the spoken bits annoying, but I don't know why they're included. I would definitely recommend this to other sleep deprived parents.
