Ten - You Need This Album May 18, 2010 Mister C. Rooney (Bekshire, England) I dont even know where to start with this album. Such an important album not only for its musical content. With the first of a long line of Seattle grunge bands of the time being Mother Love Bone (Containing messers Gossard and Ament) albeit with the untimely death of Andrew Wood we may never have experienced bands like Mudhoney, The tribute band to MLB; Temple Of The Dog and of course our very own Pearl Jam.
Ten, released nearly 20 years ago is a timeless classic and its legacy lives on and will do for some time. Every song has meaning, every song has emotion and even though the album deals with dark subjects of depression, loneliness and suicide there is something about it that makes me want to listen over and over and if this was the only album i owned i would not be an unhappy man. The first 6 tracks are my personal favourites starting with Once, a scorching opener going through powerful attempts of Even Flow and Why Go and Gentler rock anthems Alive and Black ending with the emotional Jeremy is 30 minutes of music i could listen to over and over. Vedder's voice suits the style of the band and with so many quality elements to each song it fits so nicely together.
Oceans gives you a minute or two to catch your breath before it is taken away from you again soon after with the awesome Porch. Garden, Deep and a beautiful Release finishes off this amazing album. McCready's guitar work is nothing short of astounding and everyone just excells
If you dont own this album i STRONGLY recommend you get because you will love it you WILL.
Pearl Jam, TEN out of ten February 17, 2010 P. D. French If you remember this band from years back, you won't be disappointed. Eddie Vedder sounds as gOod as ever.
It really was that good January 15, 2010 Jetset Jimbo You, rember those days when we all wore lumberjack shirts, leather braclets, DM's and had bad hair (I still have bad hair). We loved this album. well the shirts may have been a mistake but this album is still as brilliant as ever.
the antidote to 80's pretense July 22, 2009 Mr. C. Todd (Ballyclare, Northern Ireland) I'm now a professional musician and i'd say that this album probably kick started it all for me back in 1991 (I was eleven then), when my cousin played me his copy. After the insincere type of slick pompous rock and pop that had been around in the 80's (Duran Duran, Whitesnake, Thunder et al) this really blew me away. If you want sincere, honest, well-played but raw music without pretensions (or hairspray) then this is definitely a must have.
