Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. July 18, 2005 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Utterly fantastic, one of the best albums I've bought in a very long time. This limited version of the album is worth the money even if you didn't get the CD! - Beautiful packaging, the album comes in a limited maroon gatefold material case, and you get a bonus 'Lamb' CD case, which is SO cute.Highlights from the album, like most albums, are the singles released, although my personal fave is 'Cool', which has more of a 'No Doubt' feel to it. 'What You Waiting For' is now a classic, 'Rich Girl' just ridiculous fun, and 'Hollaback Girl', well, if you don't sing along to that, there's something VERY wrong. Pay the extra for this collectable. An immaculate debut for an immaculate artist. Fabulous.
What a Lovely, Angelic, Music, Baby! May 8, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Gwen Stefani's solo album L.A.M.B. was expected to be a great hit, and so it is! Many of the top world producers have worked on it (Dr. Dre, Tony Canal, Andre 3000 etc.) and they have done a great job! If you are a No Doubt fan, you probably won't like this album. However, it's not Britney Spears neither, although all the tracks have been carefully planned. There are so many different musical influences on this album- for the fans of pop, there are songs like "What You Waiting For?", "Rich Girl", "Serious", "Danger Zone", etc. and fans of rock, techno and house will enjoy "Bubble Pop Electric" and "Long Way To Go". There are also some surprises (both good and bad) in form of funky songs like "Hollaback Girl", "Cool", and especially "Harajuku Girls". If you are into something fresh, what you waiting for? Buy this album!
Disappointed April 10, 2005 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am a huge No Doubt fan and I was really excited about Gwen Stefani's solo career but when I heard the album I was quite disappointed. There are a few songs such as What you waiting for, cool, serious and danger zone which I thought were quite good but a lot of the songs like hollaback girl and crash were awful. In No Doubt, Gwen always wrote meaningful, good lyrics which I enjoyed listening to but most of the songs on this album I have to skip over. I can see that her solo career is something she's enjoying and isn't supposed to be the same as No Doubt and I commend her for that but I can't enjoy a lot of this music when I am used to listening to music from her of a much higher quality.
'No Doubt' at all that Gwen is 'The Real Thing' November 24, 2004 6 out of 12 found this review helpful
Having bought all the No Doubt albums I consider myself quite a fan! I love the style that Gwen Stefani uses on the albums and like the rest of the world love her style in general. When I heard she was to bring out a solo album there was no doubt in my mind I would have to add it to my cd collection. The album still follows the same style of No Doubt (brilliant start) and includes artists such as Andre 3000, Dr Dre and New Order. The collaborations are brilliant and my personal fave is Rich Girl featuring Eve... Gwen's vocals here are as sweet as honey and I found myself listening to it over and over again. love it!! The frst single to come off the album 'What you waiting for' cannot be denied as one of the songs of the year! What a brilliant song to bring out. As soon as the musc kicks in I found it put me in such a 'I-want-to-be-Gwen-stefani' mood and i don't think i have got rid of that feeling once since listening to this brilliant album. TO ALL YOU MUSIC FANS OUT THERE...ADD THIS TO YOUR COLLECTION! TRULY AMAZING IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT! ALBUM OF THE YEAR...NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! Gwen Stefani is going to be around a very long time.
