Amazon.co.uk Review
Black Holes and Revelations finds Muse finally achieving their full potential, producing an album that is their biggest yet. And for a band that was responsible for the grandiose Origin of the Symmetry, that's no mean feat. In a time when lo-fi and acoustic acts are devouring the charts, Muse are resolutely swimming against the tide. Black Holes and Revelations is an epic album, and it sounds huge--listening to it, it's difficult to remember that Muse are just a trio. This is a band who enter a studio determined to get their money's worth--it wouldn't be a surprise to hear a kitchen sink clanging away in the background. In the hands of a lesser band, Black Holes and Revelations would sound either ironic or silly, with songs like "Starlight" sounding like a beefed-up ELO track, right down to its lyrics about spaceships. And that's not the only 1970's British rock band that's referenced here: by the end of "Soldier's Poem", you'll swear that Freddie Mercury and Queen are providing the harmonies. And the influence of Queen sticks around right through the energetic rocker "Assassin". Black Holes and Revelations wears the comparison well--this is an arena-rock album, carefully constructed by a band who by having no fear of the absurd, manage to transcend it. Quite simply, this album rocks. --Robert Burrow

4 out of 5 stars Brilliant   July 19, 2010

Really enjoyed this CD. Never thought of listening to Muse until the Twilight films but now I'm hooked!

this was a gift for my husband because he was always going on about how good they were. i was surprised to find myself singing and swinging my pants along with some of the tracks. not bad at all.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful   June 13, 2010

I've only come to know Muse of late. Don't know how I missed them. I am totally obsessed. I have 3 CD's in my car and when the changer goes on to somethiong else I last about 4 minutes and then I move it on to the next Muse CD. They hit a spot deep within me.

5 out of 5 stars A musical education   May 17, 2010

Before I begin I have to say I found Muse through Twilight (I know not cool) however I thought I would try one of their albums. Having read many reviews I went for this one and boy was I surprised. What a fantastic collection of songs. I can't stop listening to it. Full of sweeping epics just like music used to be. My stand out tracks have to be Invincible, Assassin and Knights of Cydonia although to be honest none of the songs are duff. As a newbie to Muse I'm glad I chose this as my first experience and would highly recommend it to others new to the band.

5 out of 5 stars WOW!   March 21, 2010

I guess I'm not your usual Muse fan (38 year old female, likes Take That, Go West bit stuck in the 80's music wise), but wow do I love Muse.

I first came across them watching Twilight (I said I wasn't your usual fan), I asked my younger, cooler brother if he had any CD's I could borrow and now I'm hooked. I first got Absolution and then Black Holes and Revelations. My favourites are City of Delusion and Knights of Cydonia.

Not sure if I'm having a mid life crisis but who cares.
