Amazon.co.uk Review
The pop world might be all cooing 'n' cross-eyed over this flamboyant elfin with extended tail-feathers, as if it were shaken suddenly from a slumber, but the arrival of such a character was in fact always inevitable. He's an unlikely but traceable amalgamation of random pop culture explosions from the past few years--two parts Paulo Nutini, one part Kemal from Big Brother, a dash of Daphne & Celeste, a barrel measure of Scissor Sisters, and another pinch of post-ironic dancing to Elton John at the Students' Union gone midnight. It's no secret that the UK has a weakness for pretty-boy singer songwriters either--he fits in there too, in that he's about to stick its index finger in the socket and pour it a drink.

Give it 12 months and you might be taking out a restraining order--Mika will split opinion--but his quasi-soul falsetto is unbelievable, that much is immediately obvious. There are moments nearing syrupy Feeling-esque normalcy (take "My Interpretation"), but those aside it's high camp insatiability all the way. There's a hint of Freddie Mercury's theatricality in the voice, and in "Big Girl" he's even written a modern day "Fat Bottomed Girls". "Lollipop" is Jake Shears leading the Jackson 5, "Love Today" is the missing link between the Bee Gees and Village People and "Relax, Take It Easy" is a chilled Pet Shop Boys in gold lamé. Too cheesy to be a classic, perhaps, but this is just the brand of subversive eccentricity Robbie has failed miserably to achieve over his past few albums. --James Berry

5 out of 5 stars The star of 2007................... MIKA!!!!!   March 1, 2008

2007 belonged to one man, and that man is Mika. In January 2007, he scored his first #1 single with Grace Kelly, which remained there for 5 weeks. This was followed by a #1 album, Life In Cartoon Motion, and four more Top 20 singles; Love Today (#6), Big Girl [You Are Beautiful] (#9), Happy Ending (#7) and Relax [Take It Easy]/Lollipop (#18).

There are many fabulous songs on the album, ranging from upbeat songs like Grace Kelly and Lollipop, to mid-tempo marvels like My Interpretation and Relax [Take It Easy], to the brilliant ballad Happy Ending....................................................................

............ and then the strangeness of Any Other World, a ballad with chainsaw cellos.

If you haven't bought this BRIT-nominated album yet, go out and get it.

I love this album sooo much! I never believed in a million years I would like MIKA. One of the best albums out there at the moment if not, theee best in my opinion. A Scissor sister'esk and unique style that will be hard for any other artists to try an emulate if they wish to compete with this superstar without looking like a complete rip off.....

I didn't intend to inject Mika into my life quite as much as I am doing at the moment but he is certainly going to stay in my playlist for a rather long time. One track that always catches me off guard has to be "Happy Ending" it's such an emotional song it gives me shivers over my body whenever I hear it and I could easliy see myself crying if I played it in a depressive mood, but that hasn't happened yet cause the rest of the ablum picks me up no matter what mood I'm in.

If you don't think this is for you I urge you to give it a second chance 'cause I'm almost certain your first opinion will be wrong.... Just "Relax" Take it easy and chill to Mika....

My fav tracks in order

1 - Love Today
2 - Grace Kelly
3 - Big Girls
4 - Relax
5 - Lollipop
6 - Billy Brown
7 - Happy Ending
7 - Ring Ring

5 out of 5 stars It just keeps getting better.   February 23, 2008

I bought to cd's the other day, this and keiser chiefs. I thought that KC would be the one we would listen to all the time. what a mistake, this album is FANTASTIC, we love all the songs, none of them are boring, and part of the fun is working out who he has taken inspiration from when he wrote the songs and then sung them. Truly entertaining and hopefully he will keep going and not be a one album wonder.

Buy it now.
