With titles like "Woody Woodpecker" "Trippy Green Skull" and "Pink Batman" this cried out to be bought, and it didn't disappoint. On investigating Dan Deacon his photo on Wikipedia revealed a startling and unnerving resemblence to Timmy Mallet, (or that bloke who sang the Ukrainian entry for Eurovision).

I haven't knocked a star off because of this however. I love two thirds of the album and have added a star for "Wham City" which is central to the album and is a cracker. The last couple of tracks however are dissapointing. The aformentioned Pink Batman doesn't seem to go anywhere, and Jimmy Roche starts off sounding like the theme to some shareware game and ends up sounding like your Y-fronts ending the wash cycle and going onto spin. (Or in other words a bit naff)

Described by Wikipedia as "absurbist" electronic music and "future shock" I'm not convinced they really know where to pigeon hole this. And why do artists have to BE pigeon holed in any event. The album sounds very much like he was making it up as he went on, which results in a slightly patchy affair, but ultimately there's enough good stuff here for you to part with your cash.

Yet another American act showing us a clean pair of heels, this time from Baltimore. I will have to check out some of the others from there.
