Quite possibly the happiest I've felt listening to a song April 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The 1st review sums it up excellently. It stands out from the other songs on 'Seventh Tree' and is by far the best track on the whole album. I don't like comparisons with other musicians as I think Goldfrapp are way out there, on their own and vocally Allison doesn't have any contemporaries who can match her warm, mellow and beautiful voice. The lyrics are fun, the tune jolly but catchy and the unfortunate thing is that the track is only 4 minutes long. Last night, as Happiness played, I danced like a maddie round my living room as my long-suffering girlfriend could only cringe in horror. Just wonderful.
Uplifting and Sun-dazed March 15, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This, the second single from the truly wonderful 'Seventh Tree' is an uplifting and quirky electro-folk gem that is very lush and dreamy. It's also possibly my favourite track on the album and a great choice for a single. So if you don't already own a copy of 'Seventh Tree' and you're hearing 'Happiness' for the first time, it will come across as merely pleasant. But by the second or third time you hear this, it will get right under your skin and I guarantee you'll fall in love with it. If this sun-dazed Mellotron gem doesn't make you want to order the album, then nothing will. Another sublime effort from Alison and Will.
