Brilliant Debut Album from Leon Jackson November 19, 2008 You will be amazed by Leon Jackson's rich, chocolatey voice displaying a maturity far beyond his 19 years. Sony has done him proud with superb production values on all the songs, many of which have been specially written for him. Don't be put off by people slagging him off because he was an X Factor winner or because he wasn't even the favourite to win last year - he has a fantastic voice and is developing with speed as a performer.
Give Him A Chance November 16, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I think people need to give this guy a chance. Ive read a lot of forum comments where people are just slating him, and its just unfair to judge someone so quickly. He needs a little time to find his feet and im almost certain that he will do really well. So what his sales didnt get as good as Leona or Shane Ward. He is still a great singer and i think his first album is a fantastic effort with some great songs on there. At the end of the day not everyone is going to like every song on an album....thats just the way it is. This guy deserves a chance and deserves peoples support, so good luck to him and i hope he does well!
Welcome to Stardom Leon Jackson November 16, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
What a fantastic debut album from Leon Jackson. A stunning, sophisticated and superbly put together album.
His voice is so pure and has such great tone and depth. From the beautifully sung ballads to the up tempo numbers there is no doubt that this boy has a fantastic voice. Obviously, he is a romantic, and sings about all the different sides of love, with carefully chosen tracks, showing his wide range of vocal ability, and a great variation in styles. This is one of the best albums I have heard in a very long time. Leon has brought back old fashioned and given it a good shake up to bring it right up to date. Even his interpretations of the cover songs are inspired. He sings these adult love songs with such maturity you would think he was more like 30 than just 19 years of age.
The album is so addictive and if you love just one of these songs I guarantee you will love the rest too! I hope Leon will be around for a long time as it gives me such pleasure listening to his beautiful voice. This boy can only get better with time. I can't wait to hear what is to follow.
Stupendous! November 15, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
We didn't see XFactor (don't watch ITV much) and saw Leon for the first time on Children in Need last night singing Creative. Immediately ordered his CD on the strength of it. Will not be disappointed as have listened to clips of the other songs.
LEON JACKSON "RIGHT NOW" November 13, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I saw Leon Jackson on X Factor and I did think he had a good voice but I didn't like how most of his performances turned into a "Swing" version, but luckily for him it worked and he won.
I'm not a fan of Swing music to be honest, but on this album there is only one song that I would say is Swing, and that's the title track "Right Now" which is actually one of my favourites on the album. "Creative" reminds me a bit like Tina Arena's version of "The Windmills Of Your Mind" (the verse parts anyway) and hopefully will be released as a single. "Misty Blue" and "Caledonia" are two great covers that sound better than the originals. "All In Good Time" and "You Don't Know Me" have a Van Morrison sound to them and are two great songs. "Stargazing," "Ordinary Days" and "Fingerprints" are all great ballads. "Could Do Better" is different from any other song on the album and I really hope it's released as a single as it's one of the best songs on the album. "Don't Call This Love" and "When You Believe" are also included and are two great ballads, his version of "When You Believe" may not be as good as the original but nobody is going to sing a song better than Mariah Carey, but he does do a good job.
Leon Jackson's voice really impressed me on this album and I hope the album ends up selling a good amount of copies and he has a successful career as he is very talented.
