| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.co.uk Review VV Brown bears all the hallmarks of your standard one hit wonder. The frenzied hysteria of "Crying Blood"--essentially a thoroughly modern makeover for "Monster Mash"--made an arresting impression at impact, sirens blazing in a heavy handed raid on the '50s. As singles go, it’s probably one of 2009’s best and set an unbearably high benchmark for the album. The surprise then is how watertight the remaining 11 tracks on Travelling Like The Light are. There’s the hint of a doo-wop revival (see also "Leave!" and "L.O.V.E") and an R&B underlay, though it doesn’t necessarily follow that it’s got much soul to speak of; she’s no threat to the likes of Amy Winehouse or Adele, or even Lily Allen, for instance. That matters not though as this album’s intentions are direct and remain fiercely on target. "Quick Fix" (which is about right) opens the album and ushers you to the dance floor in much the same way the B52s' classic "Love Shack" still does, by essentially stealing its drums. But it’s also much more up to date than that and "Crying Blood" suggest. The strummed sweetness of "Shark In The Water" and rigorous strike-a-pose pop of "Game On" compete on an even high-production playing field with the likes of Katy Perry and Pink and ensure we’ll have to count to two, if not much higher, before the year's out. --James Berry

brilliant December 9, 2009 Kirstie Adam (UK) currently on repeat on my ipod....and staying there for the next long while i expect. i love this CD.
Fun Fun Fun! October 12, 2009 Y. Lakhi (London, UK) Saw V.V. Brown on BBC2, Later with Jools Holland & liked her. Delighted to see her live at Glastonbury 09 & realised she is more than a two song wonder. There are so many female vocalists around, some far to affected & synthetic for my liking, but I love the quirky approach of V.V. Brown & the album is fun & refreshing, even when dealing with tough aspects of life & her experiences. I was even more impressed to hear V.V. participated in Oxjam in South London.
Her music is enjoyable, fun & engaging, her personal style is funky & individual & this is a young musician who deserves recognition & support. Buy the album (a bargain on Amazon, via Indigo Starfish, who as ever were reliable)& support a genuine & authentic artist & not just another TV manufactured pop outfit.

And the studio audience said... September 4, 2009 Mr. L. Hall (London) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
A while back, I interviewed Luton's own D&B producer/DJ Blame and we touched on some of the work he did with London based VV Brown prior to the release of her album in July. Blame had successfully added his unique Drum & Bass sound to a remix of her already popular 'Shark in The Water'.
Intrigued to discover if VV had any more gems that we might have missed, we got a hold of her album `Travelling Like The Light" and stuck it on in the office.
`Travelling Like The Light' is a refreshing break from some of the factory produced `material' that is currently floating about and having listened to the album a number of times, we can report that the album features some gems including office favourites 'Leave!' & `Crying Blood'. We feel it necessary however for a bit of a e-moan on a certain track that we absolutely love.
Granted, `Game Over' was probably written and produced after Quantum of Solace was released in 2008 but this track without a doubt, would have been perfect as the theme tune to James Bond's 22nd outing. Being a big Bond fan, the opening sequence lacked something and personally, I think it was `Game Over'. No disrespect to the efforts of Jack White and Alicia Keys but they were far off the mark with this one. Hopefully, Luton based film composer David Arnold (strange coincidence that he's from Luton) picks up a copy of L23Magazine or VV's album.
V.V. Brown - Catchy Album after a few listens... August 29, 2009 Mapoo (Sheffield, England) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I first heard V.V. Brown on the Tv on "4Music" and I couldn't wait for the Single! Shark in the water "Loved it" then went rushing to HMV to buy her Album! I was suprised how Cheap it were and on other Music sites like Amazon its still Cheap to Buy!
Now I have to admit when I first got it I listened twice and I thought "Oooh God what have I wasted my money for" but after a few more Listens, honestly the songs do eventually grow on you...
Her voice is very Unique and the Music has some good Beats...
My favourite songs on the Album have to be: Shark in the water, Crying Blood, L.O.V.E and lastly "Back in Time"...
now everybody is entitled to there own Views of the Album but I have to say this Album is a good one after my few Listens! Go on Treat yourself. If your like me and Love Music! then you wont care & just buy it lol :)
