same packaging, much better sound July 7, 2010 P. Storey (newcastle upon tyne, tyne and wear United Kingdom) i recently bought this to replace the last remastered version. took a bit of a gamble as i wasnt sure whether there would be an improvement. If you are playing on your car stereo or a bog standard cd player I suspect you wont hear a difference, if however you have good quality kit ie cd player, seperate amplifier and good speakers then you definately will. i can hear sounds that werent previously there, much better seperation of instruments, probably worth the upgrade at 4.99. i sold my old cd for a couple of quid on amazon anyway.
Andy Warhol - a Great Cover May 9, 2010 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my favourite Rolling Stones LP for a few reasons.
It features some fantastic blues slide playing from Mick Taylor and Ry Cooder.
It also has some of the Stones strongest songs - Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, Dead Flowers. Mick Jagger and Keith Richard's song writing partnership delivers on every track.
It features a real zip on the cover, quite ground breaking (can't do this on the CD though.)
Its the best set for me.
Discover the Stones March 26, 2010 C. Walford (uk) If you're only familiar with the Stones better known tracks from any of their many compilation albums and have wondered whether it is worth buying one of their albums because you're concerned you might just be buying filler tracks I would recommend getting this album. Apart from Brown Sugar and Wild horses, which everyone knows, you will discover the following great tracks:
Sway - you'll find this track keeps coming back into your head, it just enters the subconcious.
Cant you hear me knocking - great guitar and vocals as Jagger sings of "cocaine eyes".
You Gotta move - This track proves less is more. Surely one of the greats, it is pure blues that you might expect to hear coming from a New Orleans gin joint.
Bitch - although found on a number of their compliation albums I think this is possibly the weakest track on the album
I got the Blues - Similar vein to "You gotta move" with a more modern approach.
Sister Morphine - My favourite track on the album. It would be a great blues song on its own but the lyrics take you on a journey of a dying addict in a hospital bed, waiting for "sister morphine" and "cousin cocaine".
Dead Flowers - another great track which you'll be singing along to.
Moonlight Mile - more instrumentation on this one but it is totally in keeping with the mood of the record and completes a great album that will introduce you to the real music of the Stones.
What can I say....... March 23, 2010 Gineter I have the vinyl but find the cd version great for the times when I am doing other things and do not want to be hopping up and down turning the vinyl over. Excellent cd, one of my favourate Stones albums.
LEGENDARY ROCK February 11, 2010 Mr. R. RPEEL (LONDON) This is one album every rock and roll fan should own.
Its all down to the tone and timbre, Its exeptional on this album!(only heard on a real set of speakers).
This is not an album of songs that have been mashed together, each song has been crafted with precision.
If you only listen to best of's and greatest hits you are missing the point of the rolling stones.
This is classic in all the sense of the word.
this album is one of the main reasons the stones are world famous.
5 stars is not enough
