Fab July 29, 2010 natural health (leeds.uk) Watched high lights of Glastonbury and heard XX for the first time. Ordered the cd and was really pleased with the rest of the cd. Great to drive the car to. realised the BBC 1 are using the music with previews. I hope they continue to become more well known.
Awesome July 25, 2010 A. Pereira (Wirral, Mside United Kingdom) First heard people talking about this band at Glastonbury - didnt get to see them directly, but watched the Glasto highlights - performed with Florence (from the machine)- excellent!
The album is simple electronic rock - sort of Portishead meets New Order and the Beloved.
Now my favourite late night listen
Love it! July 24, 2010 nev_ski This album was totally bought on the strength of the reviews which I find a very unreliable way of buying music but I did it anyway. I certainly am glad I did! I haven't stopped listening to it all day and will be keeping a close eye on other releases the band make in the future...a great find!
Gorgeous album July 22, 2010 roz This is simply the best album i have bought in a while! A refreshing, haunting and atmospheric sound, with both male and female vocalists complimenting each other beautifully. A work of art with not one single track u would want to skip. When it reaches the end i just want to start it all over again! If this doesn't win the Mercury Prize, then, well, frankly i'll be annoyed!
interesting, soothing but "monotonic" July 15, 2010 mbb (UK) I loved the fact they included the lyrics in the album. And they are of the kind I like, intimate thoughts, feelings about life and love and pain. This album is very good. BUT... all tracks sound the b* same, more or less. Yes, different textures are applied, but the basic structure of the track is ONE AND ONLY. Same notes, same spacing. At some point you feel sorry for the artists, since you have the impression they kept one catchy tune in their head or maybe some of the keys on their keyboards were not working properly. I am not saying they needed to add more sounds. I LOVE minimal music. I am saying THE TRACK is very good and fascinating, but it is basically one track ONLY, not 10 (the intro diverges). It's like buying an album of remixes
