Amazon.co.uk Review It’s not often a former Pizza Hut waitress gets to perform on TV (X Factor) then makes a debut album (Spirit) that outsells the Spice Girls’ Greatest Hits compilation two to one. But while the career of Leona Lewis has been an undeniably successful experiment in âdemocratic’ pop, most critics have patiently awaited her sophomore effort before deciding if the singer has what it takes to move beyond a “one album wonder” phenomenon. Simon Cowell and Clive David have subsequently thrown all their weight behind Echo, bringing in a prodigious team of producers that includes Ryan Tedder, Justin Timberlake, Kevin Rudolf, and 90s hit-maker Max Martin. Strangely, this hasn’t yielded much in the way of diversity. With a couple of exceptions – the surprisingly upbeat electro song “Outta My Head” for example - Echo plays it safe with a mix of slowies (“Can’t Breathe”, “My Hands”), plenty of power ballads (the single “Happy,” “I Got You,” “Broken,” and Timberlake duet “Don’t Let Me Down”) - and a bit of bouncier saccharine pop such as “Love Letter” and “Naked”. There’s no question that some of these songs are good, and that Lewis’ vocal talents are impressive. But ultimately the unadventurous arrangements and lack of risk-taking in general renders Echo merely a capable instead of a truly dynamic record. The jury, it seems, is still out.--Danny McKenna

Great Album! Buy it!! March 3, 2010 D. J. Hayward-smith (England) Fantastic album....i listen to it from start to finish, without skipping any tracks! Loved Happy and also Outta my head which are completely different tracks. She should defo release outta my head in the summer, would be huge!
Better than spirit! February 23, 2010 danny simmons (Essex, England) Much better than her first album which was full of filler, i can listen to this album all the way through which is rare these days when you fork out and she really lets rip with her voice on this one.
love it! February 19, 2010 FUTURESTARdelux (united kingdom) i dont actually have Leona's first album "spiret" (but i found it in a cubhord the day "eco" arrived :P) but i liked the singles from the first album a lot. Echo is a far more slick and proffesional album that a lot of money has obviously been plowed into but thats bot a bad thing and Leona's amazing voice still shines through on this collection of beutiful songs.
My favourite track on the album is the gorgeous "cant breathe" and i know "outta my head" is gonna be huge in the clubs when its realeased :)
This is a great album and a must for old or new Leona fans 5 stars! x
She Got Me! February 18, 2010 Sam (UK) This second offering from Leona Lewis not only builds on the brilliance her first album, but actually manages to surpass it. I have been a big fan from her time on the X Factor, and immediately fell in love with the Spirit album, but was the first to admit that it had some weaknesses. Of course there were many moments of genius, but it also had its moments where it slipped into the bland. In contrast while I prefer some of the songs on Echo to others, as a whole entity, it is quite simply never ever dull.
1.Happy-The fantastic lead single, which, although doesn't pack the same punch as 'Bleeding Love', is a worthy follow-up. 9/10
2.I Got You-This is one of my favourite tracks and one which I play on repeat. It's low-pitched verses contrasted with the wonderful chorus makes for a fantastic listen. 10/10
3.Can't Breathe-I have heard this track called 'an exercise in vocal histrionics'. This, in my view, is rubbish. Just because Leona uses the full extent of her range here does not mean the merits of it as a song should be overlooked. A song with complex beats and melodies and is a real album highlight. 10/10
4.Brave-An eastern-tinged ballad and one which should definitely be a single. The vocals on this are much more subtle and they work fantastically well! 10/10
5.Outta My Head-The contraversial upbeat moment, which has divided opinion. It works well in my view, no it isn't the best track on here, but at the same time an album full of ballads would be plain dull. I wholeheartedly support its inclusion. 8/10
6.My Hands-A track with a fantastically dramatic chorus. It is a grower, as at first I found it bland. 8/10
7.Love Letter-For me this is one of the weaker moments on the album. It's upbeat tempo and throwaway melody really don't make for a memorable experience for the listener. 6/10
8.Broken-Back to her brilliant best here. The climax of this song is just incredible and the emotional punch packed here is phenomenal. 10/10
9.Naked-This is the second song on here which I find very forgettable. It's lyrics are somewhat banal. 6/10
10.Stop Crying Your Heart Out-Should she have included this on here? Yes-it's not as good as 'Run', but there should be no need for a comparison. It builds up to a fantastic crescendo. 9/10
11.Don't Let Me Down-A GREAT ballad, Justin Timberlake's vocals compliment Leona's very nicely and this is another great moment on the album. 10/10
12.Alive-A nice penultimate track, but not the best. 7.5/10
13.Lost and Found- One Republic's contribution is welcome here, but this isn't the strongest track melodically. 7/10
BONUS-Stone Hearts and Hand Grenades-What a title!! And such a beautiful, simple melody and vocal! 9/10
BUY!
Easy to listen to February 13, 2010 J. Pacey (St Marys Bay Kent) This second album is very good, her voice is instantly recognisable and unique. If I had to make a small criticism it would be that the songs chosen for her are invariably similar which is a shame. With the range she has she could tackle up tempo as well as the inevitable ballad.
