5 out of 5 stars Mical poetry   March 4, 2010
Rikki Kerr
A selection of some of the great pieces of English poetry read by some of the most distinctive voices of today. An absolute joy to listen to this album. especially in a quiet relaxing moment.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful idea   February 28, 2010
L. Turney
When I first heard of this CD a couple of weeks ago, I thought it was the most wonderful idea and was amazed that nobody had thought of doing this before: combining some of the most beautiful words with some of the most beautiful music in the world.

It's a sheer, listening pleasure. I agree that there are a number of very sad poems, but if you're in a certain mood, a sad poem is just what you need. The 'voices' read beautifully, allowing the words and the music to take centre stage and as I understand they waived any fee so that the money could go to charity, then it makes their outstanding performances even more enjoyable.

4 out of 5 stars Lovely but sad in places   February 19, 2010
Sue Lesley (England, UK)
Lovely poetry, sad in places, Anthony Head and Martin Shaw stood out, especially Diary of a Church Mouse read by
Martin Shaw. Music very gentle and I felt not really needed, but pleasant all the same.

5 out of 5 stars Poetry should be heard   February 17, 2010
Robert Davidson (Cardiff)
A good choice of poems spoken clearly and with emotion. The addition of background music adds to the experience and enhances the images the poetry evokes.
Poetry can be read but should also be listened to if a full appreciation is to gained.

5 out of 5 stars It's Beautiful   February 15, 2010
Freya Goldie (Yorkshire, UK)
These poems are beautifully spoken, are very relaxing and soothing. It is hard to choose a favourite but it would have to be 'Rock Me To Sleep' - it is so emotional which is not only a tribute to the words but also to Alison Steadman's delivery. Since I purchased this CD four of my friends have bought it too.
