this is my first intro to joe bonamassa and certainly my last what style of music is he playing.boring dull a complete waste of money
Black Rock June 5, 2010 W. Baker (England) Like every Joe Bonamassa album before it, the musicianship is superb. However,I found the chopping and changing of musical styles on this album a bit disconcerting. Leonard Cohen's Bird On A Wire, for example, seemed totally out of place, whilst the acoustic Baby You Gotta Change Your Mind was a joy. A good album to own but because of the diversity of styles, not his best in my opinion.
Black Gold May 21, 2010 Bendy (Co. Down. N.Ireland) I am a big fan of JB and was eagerly looking forward to this new release. It dosen't disappoint on many levels, however I get the sense that there is something missing. I can't put my finger on it but I'm just not completely satisfied. There are better (in my opinion) JB cd's out there. Maybe I like the catchy riffs and the long guitar solos of previous efforts. I would still recommend a listen as the quality that is there still shines through.
same old same old May 13, 2010 B. A. E. Jansen (Ruislip) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I cannot argue that technically the guy has got something, but this continues Joe's tradition of totally boring geetar stuff which is so far removed from what blues is all about I despair. Him, Walter Trout etc are just a ridiculous parody. If you dig the real stuff, give this a wide wide bearth - its really poor.
what rhythm!! May 12, 2010 P. Higson-smith (Kent, UK) Absolutely fantastic music - Joe has wonderfully soulful voice and just the greatest guitar playing - plus wide variety of unusual instruments on this album. love love the sleeve notes too
