Amy's 2nd CD just OK July 31, 2010 Jorey A Beamesderfer I will have to agree with some of the other reviews. This CD seems a bit forced - the first half all sounds the same and formulaic. I'm also not too fond of the Springsteen cover. The first CD was incredible and this one is a disappointment.
Amy MacDonald - A Curious Thing CD July 25, 2010 HanAme I loved Amy's first album, This is the Life. I raved on for months how good I thought Amy was after listening to her album. Here was somebody who had a unique voice and was a great song writer. I was worried whether she could pull off a just-as-impressive second album but decided to buy A Curious Thing as the reviews on Amazon were pretty good. For me, I'm afraid my instincts were right. Although this album is not bad, there's about 2-3 songs I really like, however, the songs on this album just don't grab your attention like her previous album and I found myself disappointed.
Curious Thing July 22, 2010 flatfoot471 A more refined album from Amy and it's quite apparent to see how her voice and character are developing. Like this much better than her first album. There is also the bonus cd of some tracks from Barrowlands concert.
Dislike - My edition of A Curious Thing (Deluxe Edition) came in a cardboard cover. Only had the cd about a month and already the cover is showing signs of extreme wear and tear. I have a general dislike of cardboard covers for cd's and this is no exception. Cardboard cover no use. Should be in a plastic case.
For the album music it gets 4 stars. For the cover nil point.
The Voice July 19, 2010 H. W. Jeffery-leech (London) I bought this album on the strength of hearing one track on the Radio.
Her voice is extraordinary and I would recommend this album to anyone.
One to watch for the future, and pretty good so far! July 18, 2010 Marcus (North West of England) Two Albums in and still showing much promise for such a young artist. Both her albums are pretty good and if she doesn't get lazy or conceited she could go far. This one has it's highs and lows but having listened to it several times its a catchy pleasant record with quite intelligent lyrics. You could yo an awful lot worse.
