oh dear November 18, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Unfortunately, this album contains a cover of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah', a song which about the pain of sexual love. Katherine turns it into an anodyne, passionless 'hymn', devoid of the heartache that made Jeff Buckley's cover so perfect. A tragic waste of her talents. Yet another example of how 'crossovers' don't work. Avoid. (It isn't even an aria!).
SIMPLEMENTE GRANDIOSA Y ENCANTADORA October 31, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
Opera singer? Pop singer? Who cares? October 28, 2008 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I'm not a purist and I don't care whether Katherine Jenkins is an opera singer or not. All I can say is that I love this album. A lot of the songs moved me immensely and this has proved to be an excellent introduction to a type of music I don't know much about. Buy this album and enjoy! Beautiful songs sung by a very gorgeous woman.
Yet Another Winner October 28, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have been eagerly looking forward to the release of this album, and I have not been disappointed. Contrary to the opinions of some previous reviewers, I think this is one of Katherine's best, if not THE best. I find it so inspirational and moving, so gentle and peaceful; whether or not you're religiously minded, the spellbinding voice of this beautiful girl cannot fail to uplift the heart. Never mind five out of five, if I could, I'd give this album a hundred out of a hundred; it is worthy of a place in anyone's collection; DO NOT miss it!
Only average, and disappointing from a very talented lady October 28, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Eagerly awaited, but sadly not as good as her previous albums. And I`ve been a fan since "Premiere" . I also agree that the title is somewhat misleading ( as I listen to Silent Night with snow falling outside !! ).It`s a pleasant collection of well-produced mostly familiar material, but "Sacred Arias" is indeed inaccurate. For the real thing, try Mr Bocelli`s splendid album of that title.
