Stimulating, interesting and enjoyable February 6, 2005

This is an album by musician come DJ / producer (Mr) Nicola Conte. Yes, previous reviewer it is a man not a woman. The vocals are provided by guest singers.
It is not strictly jazz but will probably appeal to fans of bossa nova /light latin jazz. It might even stimulate curious non-jazz fans to begin exploring the latin-jazz genre where there is much to be discovered and marvelled at.
The music here is predominantly modern DJ produced, latin rhythmn based fare with prominent bass and percussion foundations.
Imagine yourself on a balmy summer night sitting in an outdoor cafe-bar in a tropical location with a glass of good wine, thinking about moving onto a salsa club later. This music is perfect as a backdrop to that scenario or as a reminder of it.
It might not be ground-breaking but it is very enjoyable and thoroughly recommended.

What could be said to justify the wonder of this full blown album. From its tantalising rhythmes to its beat packing base lines. Ms. Conte's vocals are just sublime taking you back to those heady days of Astrud Gilberto and 60's jazz chic. Lie back and be transported on waves of seriously cool chill.
