The best value-for-money music product I've ever bought! November 13, 2007

This product contains 3cds in beautiful and robust packaging. You get both of the original albums ('the facts and the dreams' and 'voices from the dust bowl') along with a 3rd CD of remixes, both Fragile State remixes and remixes of Fragile State tunes by industry heavyweights like 4Hero, Future Loop Foundation and Digitonal.
I've separated this review into two parts:
1) If you don't own any Fragile State music
Fragile State produce beautiful and funky chilled out goodness. Their tunes have a sweeping orchestral feel to them yet contain funky keyboard effects and beats which keep you nodding your head along to the tunes. Although largely instrumental (there's voice effects, but no real vocals) it's a very uplifting album and always picks me up when I'm feeling low or drained. In case you're put off by the moniker of a 'chill-out' album let me reassure you that although the album is chilled each track is unique and different and both of their original albums are jam packed full of unique flavours and textures. Insanely listenable!
2) If you already own one or both of the fragile state albums
Then this is still an essential purchase for the remixes CD which is NOT simply a gimmick CD or bonus CD. It plays just like the missing 3rd fragile state album - full of effects and samples that you recognise but put together in tunes that are new and fresh. Stand out tracks include the digitonal remix and the alucidnation remix. Both of these are superb. None of the remixes are heavy or house influenced and all of them stay true to the fragile state ethos of funky chilled out goodness!
In short - an essential purchase for anyone who doesn't mind the finer points of chill out music.
