Musical bliss May 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Jan Garbarek does an amazing job of blending his sax with the classical instrumentation and Khyal style of singing that is performed by Ustad Fateh Ali Khan and Deeyah. Highly recommended.
I Love it!! June 1, 2007 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
This music really makes me think, and stirs my soul. Very emotionally-filled saxophone playing, and with the Palestinian musicians, it truly makes it a unique and enjoyable CD.
The essence of song August 11, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is one of my 3 most favourite albums of all times. Not because of Garbarek, but because of Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, who is the actual composer of the Ragas on this album. Only the Saga is composed by Garbarek. I am not a big fan of saxophones, but this managed to be a favourite album for me because of Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, both as a composer and a singer. His singing is everything I ever dreamed of! It's absolute bliss!

On this album, Jan Garbarek does not meet the late master of Pakistan music, singer Nusrat Fated Ali Khan, but Ustad Fateh Ali Khan (not to be confused with the well-known qawwali singer).
Interesting fusion of western and indian music. March 12, 2002 15 out of 18 found this review helpful
In ragas and sagas Jan Garbarek meets the late master of Pakistan music, singer Nusrat Fated Ali Khan,in a soulful exploration of jazz and traditonnal indian music.Jan garbarek plays here in a very melodic way in order to bring the listener in the vast landscape of Pakistan. In this album the musician desire is to create an atmosphere rather than complexity. This cd is a very very good introduction for anybody interested in both style of music:world and jazz.
