Amazing After all those years September 9, 2005

I was 21 when I bought this album...........I lent it to a friend..never got it back . Many years later I bought it again on a visit to San Francisco .......I wore the vinyl out....I knew every note , every bend of every note. Then in came cds and I stopped playing vinyl and replaced most of my fave records with the cd version.
Today well over 30 years later the cd version arrived ( I ordered it 2 days ago) and its still as vital and amazing as it was then when I had a lot more hair!..Bliss

Charles Lloyd's set at the Monterey festival summed up the end of the decade, full of love and joy and improvisation. The addition of Keith Jarrett's piano rendered it one of the best festival pieces of all time. The warmth of Lloyd's sax and the freedom of Jarrett's piano were an unsurpassed combination that brought to me, and many others, the spirit of the times. You didn't have to live on the "west coast" to know what was going on, you just had to pop it on your deck and drop the needle on the vinyl. Those days won't come again. Superb!
