Here is another superb album by the best swing band in the business.This is a lively yet at times quite "sultry and ever so bluesy" offering from the real power house sound machine that was the Basie orchestra.
For those fans familiar with Count Basie's recordings you will no doubt know what to expect - for others who are just discovering the magic of the by-gone swing era,this particular set is a gem.
The arrangements are superb and the performances equally so.
The sound of this recording is wonderful.Nothing has been lost in the remastering and the sound is warm ,rich, bright and fresh.The stereo balance is awesome and even the quiet rhythm guitar strumming away can be heard to good effect.
The Basie piano is sparkling and without those distortions that sometimes occur in recordings of this vintage when remastered for CD.
This is big band Basie at his best,swingin' soulful and jazzy - a real must have CD for fans of the very best of the best,the band just crackles with punch and power.
Enjoy the artistry of the master of big band swing.
