This is a Digitally remastered issue of The Black & White Minstrels's eigth album "Shoe Time Special"(1967),with the extra time available on a CD five additional tracks recorded from 1960(the last two tracks) to 1972 are included.There is plenty of energy here that is easy to accompany.Beside the famous Minstrels of Tony Mercer(Baritone),Dai Francis(Energetic Baritone) and John Boulter(Tenor) there is Margaret Savage showing a great depth of ability and versatility when barely in her twenties.Other stalwarts of the show such as Les Rawlings (who appeared throughout the run) and Andy Cole can be very briefly be heard as soloists.The Minstrels went from "Deep South" music to more modern songs after the very first years with stronger orchestral backing and this made a better show.
The liner note are very good but need a minor correcting.The were sixteen albums made as the Minstrels recorded annually from 1960 to 1976(1973 excepted),the last was not issued until 1977.
