Underrated, near forgotten Jarrett masterpiece October 8, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I agree with M.J. Perry's review (3 July 2007) that this is a contemplative journey. This is indeed spare, meditative music from Keith. I know little about Gurdjieff and less about his music, but on the basis of this, I would love to know more about his philosophy; anyone who can write music this beautiful has to be batting for the right side. And Keith does him proud in this wonderful, seemingly little-known recording, which I think is Jarrett's last studio solo piano alubum until The Medoly at Night with You, unless I'm much mistaken; it would be instructive to listen to both of these albums together, as I think they have some sort of kinship. Highly recommended for those looking for tranquility and beauty.
A contemplative journey July 3, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a deeply meditative set of tracks played beautifully, and with great intensity by Keith Jarrett. They should be allowed to waft on the air, accompanying you round the house, or out into the garden, growing distant and yet remaining pure. The pieces have a spare, stark quality imbued with fragility and spirituality. A lovely disc; great performances.
