I took this LP with me (on vinyl) when I went to university at the beginning of the 1980s. It is one of the few albums I can still listen to without any sense of when it was recorded. The band are astounding - notably Jan Garbarek - and play as a genuine ensemble. The album has several very strong tunes - you can hum them as you walk down the street and several can be danced-to. If music was a physical thing, this would experience no gravity. It soars. This is one of my desert island discs, along with early 80s Weather Report, late Frank Zappa, Brian Eno, Paul Weller, Free and Deep Purple. I have no time for intellectual jazz - it has to move, as if to dance to , have bits you can hum and do the washing up to, and move me. My other recommendation from this period would be "My Song".
