what a fantastic album,it has been some years since I have had the real pleasure of hearing eddie play again it was just like he used to play in the late 50s early 60s. I had the pleasure of playing with him on two occasions at a pub in south london when he sat in with us I played double bass and eddie played piano for the rest of the evening, the album reminds me of that time long ago.
This is the Eddie Thompson Trio at its best November 12, 2000

It is news to me that Spike Robinson was included on this disc when this wonderful tribute to five giants of the jazz piano was recorded in 1983 by the great late ever swinging Mr Thompson. It is a tight punchy collection of compositions made famous by Ellington, Hines, Eubie Blake, Monk and Errol Garner. Blind from birth Eddie Thompson had a wonderful way of being able to emulate other musicians yet at the same time incorporate his own unique style. If you want to hear improvisation and a great technique plus beautiful piano playing, listen to Eddie Thompson. A legend.
