The Best Hallelujah Chorus EVER! December 18, 2008 This is the best version of the Hallelujah Chorus EVER! The first time I heard it on MTV or somewhere years ago I nearly fell out of my chair. It still affects me emotionally to the point where I start crying. IT WILL KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF, even if you aren't religious - and I'm an atheist. But the SINGING!!! As a former singer, I am blown away by this.
Heavenly Messiah!! October 24, 2005 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a GREAT Messiah!! Get it and be lifted! :-) Featuring Stevie Wonder and other fab singers. The Ev'ry Valley and Rejoyce "arias" is the best! Raw and full of emotions! Its a shame they didnt record the whole Messiah!! A real GEM!!
Get it for the Singing December 9, 2002 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is a VOCAL album. Some of the soundtracks sound a little arificial, but this is such a MONSTER work - it would cost a fortune and a year to arrange and record it all with musicians to match the vocals. The Voices are AMAZING, and the groove on many of the tracks more than makes up for any weak parts. What is really impressive is that if you are broad enough to know your classics and your soul, you will appreciate how Handel's work has been mapped into the soul genre. Clever! As for the Tour de Force, the "Hallelujah Chorus", it is just how church should be on a Sunday morning. A Truly Uplifting Groove. Yes, I recommend it!
Brilliant - different - and such enthusiasm! April 9, 2001 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Something very different - those familiar with the classical choral "Messiah" may not at first relate to this upbeat, but so enthuasistic version. It gets you going - sing-along-aHandel.. - with the vibrancy of and depth of singing of the gospel choirs and soloists. Try it!
