Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A wonderfully eclectic collection.   June 6, 2008

Theme Time Radio Hour is one of the most original and enlightening music programmes on the air. It's brilliantly presented by Bob Dylan who plays an eclectic mix of often obscure records all linked by a theme. Dylan's knowledge of American popular music is immense and each programme is peppered with his unique combination of wit and wisdom. So, Chrome Dreams are to be congratulated for issuing this double album containing 52 wonderful tracks of the kind of music to be heard on TTRH. The only thing missing is the man himself but that shouldn't deter anyone from acquiring this marvellous and wide-ranging compilation of great music.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Stuff !!!   January 29, 2008

As a huge Bob Dylan fan, I was immediately attracted to this release. Why wouldn't I be? But I will say is that you don't have to be a Bob Dylan fan to like this, it's a wonderful collection of songs from a wonderfully diverse collection of artists, some well enough known and some that are more obscure. So don't be put off if you don't like Bob Dylan.

As a fan though it is intriguing to listen to some of the stuff he himself likes and I suppose may have been influenced by. If I could suggest an improvement it would be to have included the footage from each radio show where Bob actually introduces the song. That would be class!!

Worth the investment. Enjoy!

I'm a massive Dylan fan but i'm also a thoroughly modern guy so i approached this release with a fair amount of trepidation , after all , those old recordings and songs are all a bit naff and poorly produced aren't they . Well , i could not have been more wrong and i'm so glad i took a chance on this because it is absolutely superb . I'm having a fantastic time discovering a lost world of superb music that i was so wrong to dismiss , almost every song on here is absolutely amazing .
The presentation and packaging are brilliant too and i shall certainly be checking out more releases from Chrome Dreams , they've done a great job here . Can't recommend this release highly enough .

5 out of 5 stars Listen to your deejay   December 13, 2007

A CD which is like Bob Dylan's Jukebox or Songs Dylan loved-a double CD which includes one song from each of the radio shows which already had a sampler as a covermount.
Its the records heard by Dylan as he listened himself to radio dj shows and is a mix of his known influences from Gospel, country, folk and rockabilly. And even straight ahead pop like Bing Crosby
In other words from the 30s to the 50s and where the operative word is Obscure
The 3rd song is actually by an artist with the name Zimmerman-but its no relation
