Worth the price for Walk on hot coals alone ! May 14, 2008 I was very fortunate to have seen Rory live during his heyday and (as another reviewer has stated) I often felt he was far better live than in the studio and this album demonstrates that brilliance.
This album is worth the price for the brilliant "Walk on hot coals" alone, great song and what a fantastic guitar solo !
If you love full throttle blues, then get this album.
Just magic April 6, 2008 I saw Rory live man times during his career and always thought he was much better live than on album. This is the best of his live LP's and is one that I have always treasured. One of the great guitar players and sadley missed.

My title says it all. This album is pure magic. A great guitarist, great songs, great band. Every song on this album is brilliant. I will echo other reviewers and state that A Million Miles Away not only betters the studio album's version, but is probably the greatest recorded live song on the greatest live album. If I was challenged to choose my favourite album of all time, then this it without a doubt. In my own opinion Rory Gallagher is by far more superior to Hendrix and anybody else you could think of. A mark to me of a great guitarist is that I'm a guitar player and I struggle to play anything by Rory Gallagher, that makes Rory head and shoulders above all comers. This is sounding like my own tribute to Rory Gallagher, so I will say one more thing brighten up your life and own this album. You won't be sorry, it will become your favourite.

This album is utterly amazing, i just cant comprehend how much feeling oozes out of it. The best way to listen to this album is to sit in a dark room and let it play through, it will take you to places you only go to in dreams. The highlight of this album has got to be "million miles away", you will just sink into this song as rorys guitar playing drifts though your ears, and you wont want it to end. in lehmans terms 'heaven' I also strongly recomend getting this on DVD and you will see how his great beauty unfolds
Blues Magic March 2, 2005 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
This record is over 30 years old now and it has not dated so much as a minute. Rory's playing was inspiring, brimming full of energy and love for his craft ; it shows on every single song recorded here, whether it's soaring blues licks peeling the paint off the walls, gritty blues riffin' making the audience stomp the floor to hell or laid back accoustic work, it's all here. He was a legendary live performer, the real deal in every respect. If you weren't lucky enough to see him live, this record will convince you of that and if you did, then this serves as a welcome reminder ( hardly needed of course ! ) to his immense talent and our massive loss. You won't buy a better blues guitar recording anywhere - ever ; go buy & enjoy.
