Great mixture of originals and interpretations of blues classics August 26, 2008 Thankfully the 80s hair metal duel is excluded from this album. Cooder's slide at the beginning of the duel is great, but the song then descends into something more suited to 'This is Spinal Tap'.
The soundtrack contains an interesting take on Robert Johnson's 'Crossroads', a haunting version of Lenoir's 'Down in Mississippi', the awesome 'Nitty Gritty Mississippi', great slide on 'Feeling Bad Blues' and 'Walking Away Blues', and wonderful gospel vocals on 'Somebody's Callin' My Name'.

Brilliant laid back slide guitar blues, highlight is Willie Browns song, note that this does NOT contain the guitar duel from the end of the film...
A great soundtrack!! April 12, 2006 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I must have seen this movie when I was about 8 back in 1990 I remeber loving it, the music the story. The sound track is fantastic its all Ry Cooder and its pure delta style blues. Because of this film my music collection swells with old blues records and I even play slide guitar. A point to make thoight the fantastic guitar battle isn't included on this c.d. instead it was realeased on steve Vai's the Elusive Light and Sound Vol.1. If you can get it cheap its well worth it.
Even if you haven't seen the movie but love Ry Cooder you should still get this cd.
Howling Hot Blues !!!!!!!! A must for all true blues men. December 1, 2000 15 out of 19 found this review helpful
Saw the film on Sky TV and just had to have the soundtrack. Ry Cooder and Steve Vai play some of the most progressive blues I've heard in 15 years as a blues fan. An excellent introduction to blues for all music lovers. Buy the disc, get your air guitar tuned up and enjoy.
