A master comedian at work May 15, 2002 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
Bob Newhart's style is just to talk, describing an imaginary conversation or situation with a slightly surreal outlook and needle-sharp accuracy. This sounds as though it should be remarkably boring and yet quite simply is hysterically funny. In many ways his technique is similar to some modern comedians but there is no swearing, no smut, no innuendo - just sharp observation and dry wit. Having said that, I have only rated this as 4 stars as some of the "sketches" are a little short, but the Rocket Scientist sketch is one of his best - it's embarrassing to admit that I practically know it by heart but still laugh every time I hear it.
