Monty Python's Previous Review February 12, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Monty Python's third album carries on in the same vein as the second with the Spanish inquisition being replaced by Highway Man, Dennis Moore, whom was notorious for the theft of lupins.
The material is mainly drawn from the third series of `Monty Python's Flying Circus' with highlights being the song and dance number from the `Money Programme', `Eric the Half a Bee' and the argument sketch. By this time the teams writing was at the height of there powers and I think this is the greatest of all the Python albums, the `How to Do Programme' being a perfect piece of parody with children's TV presenters well and truly nailed.
Worth buying just to hear a massage from the Swedish Prime Minister.
Denis Moore, Dennis Moore, dum dum dum de dum... December 11, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
So the Monty Python "albums" finally get reissued with the obligatory extra tracks and lavish packaging. If, like me, you are a fan and already have these recordings, then you should think carefully about which ones you buy. Admittedly they are all great for putting on your iPOD and making you laugh out loud on bus/train trips. I've had some very strange looks from people I can tell you.
This CD was, I think, the first release from the gang. It's actually no where near as funny now as it was back in "nineteen hundred and soaking wet". I'm sure most fans will have already heard nearly all of this before and it's difficult not to think of the visuals when you are listening. Example: the massage joke is not funny and is repeated four times. I've seen all of this CD on TV apart from Are You Embarrassed Easily? which is very funny and works better in the fact that it was never (I think) a visual piece.
The extras on this particular CD are crap but the box is very nice as you would expect. At nearly 15 in the high street stores one cannot help but think one is being royally ripped off. These CD's should all be mid-price.
