Amazon.co.uk Review Russia's number one hip-hop DJ takes to his decks once again for another round of scratch-happy beats. This time, Vadim has decided to ditch the smoky instrumentals and dubby trip-hop of debut album USSR Reportoire in favour of a tougher, rawer hip-hop sound. It was a wise move. "Life From The Other Side" is a brilliant album. Yet the key to the album's success isn't the quality of the beats and backdrops. Vadim has wisely recruited an army of talented guest MCs to add a much-needed vocal edge to proceedings. The Russian DJ's soundscapes seem to suit the vocal talents of Motion Man, Skinnyman, Toastie Tailor, Blu rum and Blade down to a tee. The resultant tracks are something close to genius. The best contribution comes from Sarah Jones on "Your Revolution" who rants about sexism in hip-hop against a sexy electro backdrop. It's a sublime moment in an album of hip-hop highs. --Matt Anniss

Still doesnt sound the slightest bit dated June 6, 2005 The best hip-hop DJ in the UK has collaborated with mcs from both sides of the atlantic and one of spain's best. The hip hop is medium tempo and there isnt any of that overly american chant-like nate dog stuff here. The raps are varried and top quality. The beats are creative and the bass is similar to the likes of DJ Format (simple, not boring and slightly funky in places) The best tracks are Truly and Really, It's Obvious (watch it online at ninjatune.net), Terrorist, Ponmelo Duro and Skinnyman's Life From The Itchy Side. PS, on Pauses for Repetition, Kto eta, eta oocheatelle gaspodine Johns, means who's that, that's the teacher mr Johns.
YET ANOTHER GREAT FROM DJ VADIM October 9, 2001 this album features many of englands finest rappers, sarah jones, skinny man and the almighty blade. Tracks like the terrorist, dig yourself, from russia with love and your revolution represent hip hop at its best. The track how to excersize a turntable recordplayer, is a fabulous track of cuts and scratches. buy this cd, it is 27 tracks of genious.
Dope beats, Dope Rappers, Dope turntablism, a Dope CD June 1, 2000 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
From the start Vadim lays down some of the fatest tunes with help from Primecuts, Skinny Man, Mr Thing, First Rate and others. Sick tunes have to be "It's Obvious", Blum rum 13's MCing is f*$"ing smooth, "From Russia with Love" and "Friction". Vadim's skills shine throughout this HIP-HOP expedition which is a complete success. Fat tunes all the way (wicked interludes) which will get any one nodding.Get this, you will not be dissappointed.
