I have to say that this box set was a joy to behold. Not only was the re-mastered music absolutely fantastic, but also the added visuals were a delight. It does beg the question, where have they been hiding these films all these years? OK, so one or two of them are looking a little bit flaky with age, but isn't that the effect ageing has? How does the DVD of the early seventies 'Yessongs' look in 2008, after all? And where else will you see such fantastic material anyway?
Moreover, what these sounds and visuals show to me is that in losing Gabriel and Hackett (the latter has been criminally underated for decades in this listener's view) the band lost not merely two members, but two fifths of their very creativity, and were never the same again. Sure, Collins managed to turn Genesis into a mega-selling pop group, but could you find anything as good as (e.g.) 'Dancing With the Moonlit Night' on Abacab? I think not. Anyway, it's an investment, but it's worth every penny. Treat yourself for Christmas. Go for it now.

a great set but why are the first four albums in standard double cases.
when the lamb and the bonus discs have deluxe digipacks.
for this price i would have expected them all to match.
did they run out of the new cases, will they replace them?

genesis 1970-1975 is the third installment of the genesis era the early years one of the best
my dad took me to see genesis back in june 08 in london and i loved it

'Genesis: 1970-1975' contains the five Peter Gabriel-fronted studio albums from 'Trespass' to the double 'The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway' plus an extras disc full of rarities including Genesis Plays Jackson, an aborted soundtrack project for a BBC Art film on the work of painter Michael Jackson. Also featured is a hidden gem for Genesis fans - previously unreleased footage of an extraordinary performance at Shepperton Studios 1973 (on the Selling England By The Pound extras disc) revealing one of the most unique pioneer performers on the rock stage of the 70s, including the legendary costumes and onstage stories.
Genesis : 1970-1975 presents five of the band's classic studio albums as SACD/CD Hybrid and DVD Dual Disc sets featuring 5.1 DTS and Dolby Digital Surround Sound and new stereo mixes of the original albums (5.1 and new stereo mixes created by Nick Davis and Genesis), plus bonus videos and new interviews with all band members filmed exclusively for these reissues. The set contains hours of previously unreleased footage, and all the Lamb Lies Down On Broadway slides used on the original stage presentation in 1974-75.
