Amazon.co.uk Review In common with many bands who finally get what they always wanted--in Bon Jovi's case, thanks to Slippery When Wet, the sort of world domination normally only dreamt of by demented European dictators and Bond villains--Bon Jovi decided that they didn't really want it. Though New Jersey contains several stereotypically Jovi stadium anthems, such as the single "Bad Medicine", and though the videos showed that the intricately layered and feathered coiffures were intact, this is the album where Bon Jovi began changing. The title offers a broad hint as to what Jon Bon Jovi in particular was trying to change into--short of renaming the album I Come From The Same Place As Bruce Springsteen, he could scarcely have been more obvious about it. "Living In Sin", indeed, takes Bon Jovi's increasing obsession with Springsteen to the verge of pastiche. --Andrew Mueller

My Favorite Bon Jovi Album July 22, 2008 The remastered CDs have a red ring around the outside of the front of the disc so if you're buying this one make sure you're not being ripped off.
I've been a Bon Jovi fan for a long time now and this is my all time favorite album. It's their best of the early period, without doubt. Got some romancing songs, the good ol' power ballads, and some fun stuff. Top album.
Not as inspired as SWW February 8, 2008 I was impressed with the album before this one Slippery When Wet so I was eager to hear this one, a friend got it before me on cassette tape and lent it to me, I was very disappointed, I thought it sounded like they had just got a six pack of beer and an acoustic guitar and written a load of uninspired dribble, my opinion was cemented when later I heard an interview with John Bon Jovi where he actually said that thats how they write songs, ".... yeah we just get a six pack an an acoustic guitar and just party mann..." I later found out that the hit's on the previous album were written by professional song writers who they've never used again. think about it.

Like the title says, Glam Metal At Its Worst....saved from a 1 star by a couple of descent tracks. Sooooooo boring and over polished!!!!!!
New Jersey --- A Great Bon Jovi Album July 16, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I got this Bon Jovi album yesterday and love it! All of the songs of the disc are great, my favorites being "Wild Is The Wind", "Lay Your Hands On Me", "Bad Medicine", Living In Sin" and my favorite of all --- "Blood On Blood". The CD is just what you'd expect from Bon Jovi, an awesome masterpiece. The album, quite righty reached no.1 on the album charts. I fully recommened this Bon Jovi album --- you can't claim to have a good collection of Jovi music without this release.
bon jovis definitive masterpiece July 20, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
When you consider that slippery when wet sold 12 million copies in the usa alone, then you would forgive the new jersey boys for feeling a tad nervous when it came to recording new jersey, the pressure was on,but somehow the lads faced it and released the ultimate album in anthemic rock, this is their masterpiece and they were never gonna better this, sad but true. The anthems and yes i would call them anthems on new jersey were just so strong, there is no way that you couldnt be drawn into them, yes you will sing along, heavy keyboards and guitars and drums and jon bon jovis voice just made this such an album. The classics are here yet again such as lay your hands on me,bad medicine, born to be my baby, blood on blood,i'll be there for you and more, god thats some list of class songs i just recited there, but you get the idea of this albums strengths. If you dont own this ,then you should, its an album that will change your mood, change your idea of fun time rock and most of all you will be captivated by new jersey.
