good November 19, 2008 THE VOCALS ARE NO WHERE AS GOOD AS COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS,BUT TO CALL THIS ALBUM EMO IS LIES THE GUITAR IS MUCH BETTER THAN BEFORE SHAME ABOUT THE VOCALS
Give it a second listen November 10, 2008 I was ready to write it off after a first listen..only Chelsea Smile stood out, but having revisited it a few more times there is more depth to it than I initially thought.
Chelsea Smile is probably, no, for me, definitely the best thing BMTH have done..There are a few tracks that don't quite cut it and the mix is odd in places, vocals too far back in the overall sound.
It's probably worth a 3 and a half, but I'm in a generous mood.
I thought it would be better November 3, 2008 I have recently bought the album because i heard the song chelsea smile and i was impressed. Yet in my honest opinion i know where the band is trying to come from, but most of there songs dont work. Songs such as football season is now over, in my opinion are appauling, the song is just a blur of noise with no instrument complementing the other. Oli is i admit great vocalist, but his vocal talents are wasted with the pointeless over screams. To be honest it would be better if it was more melodic and a little less screaming.
I suggest buy this album if you are into screaming and repetative generic beats+breakdowns none of which complement each other.
Try Soilwork 'Stabbing the drama' a much more accomplished metal album.
Big Improvment October 23, 2008 Firstly I wanna mention i do not own BMTH's old albums. From what I had heard of them it seemed like a decent band but I wasnt fond of the singer. I took a risk with this album after hearing `the comedown' and im glad i did. reminds me alot of the first KSE album. Best tracks in my opion are 'the comedown' 'Chelsea Smile' and 'written in blood'. Still however might not be in everyones taste. listen to the above mentioned tracks on net and then make your own opinion
Musical maturity with Attitude October 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Suicide Season is a more accessible album than Count Your Blessings. The band has matured and the tracks reflect a more considered musical sound with better production. The Swedish recording influence is particularly heard on the stunning title track with the inclusion of more ambient elements reflecting the emotion of the track. The attitude and aggression are still prominent but some of the tempo changes and breaks are toned down. Its rare to find a 10 track album with no obvious fillers. Stand out tracks are Suicide Season, Chelsea Smile, It Was Written in Blood and The Sadness will Never End (reminiscent of recent In Flames). Equally important the band has shown that they can hack it live as personally witnessed on their recent tour.
