i was wrong November 21, 2008 Trivium's third roadrunner release has won me over in terms of trying not to immitate Metallica as songs like Kirsuite Gomain and Down From The Sky are absolutley brutal in terms of the riffs and Matt Heafy's vocals being balanced by the accessible to the blood and thunder rawk that was evident on The Ascendancy and lacking on The Crusade.
I have given them some unfair reviews but this one atleast has won me over its just a question of wether their next album will be their defining moment.
They've done it again November 9, 2008 This is a great album because it encorporates everything you've loved from their previous three albums, and blends them all into an alloy of wonderous metal. It has the powerful choruses of Ascendancy and the riffage from the Crusade. The Metallica-wannabes has been discarded for definite on this album, they have stamped this record with a recognisable sound of their own.
This is a definite contender for album of the year in my eyes, highlights include Down From the Sky and Throes of Perdition. Oh, and the DVD version is well worth getting, it has a making of feature of the guys in the studio recording the album, bonus tracks which include 'Iron Maiden' and a guitar masterclass from Matt and Corey.
Enjoy!!
Fantastic Album November 1, 2008 This album is great! After The Crusade, which wasn't bad, but let's face it, wasn't the best, I wasn't sure what to expect from Trivium. In the back of my mind I couldn't get away from the niggling feeling that they were going to produce something sub-par, so when I first heard this album it blew me away! The singles early on work well, leaving time for other quality tracks towards the end - notably the title track, which is just phenomenal. A 12 minute masterpiece, and ends the album with a bang leaving you lusting for more! Can't wait for the next album, really recommended.
Better than Crusade October 23, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is well and truly the best Trivium album yet and could be for a while. This will be very hard to beat and if the Triv can beat it then ... that will be AWESOME.
The drumming is awesome. The Guitar work is perfected. There isn't many better albums.
And its good to see Growling Vocals back!
Amazing Album! October 13, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Matt Heafy said that it was going to be their best album yet. And I believe he was right. The opening track, Kirisute Gomen, has an acoustic into and then kicks in with the words "He who walks the fire breaths"....what an amazing start to the album. The other two tracks that stand out to me are 'Down From The Sky' and "Into The Mouth Of Hell We March". Matt and Corey really do show off their new 7-string signature guitars skills on this album. I highly recommend this album to everybody. Buy it!
