5 out of 5 stars Age has not withered their quality   November 16, 2008
Age has not withered the output of their latest studio offering "Forever More" which is a classic in the making which has the usual brooding epic songs and straight ahaed rockers where Jeff Keith extraordianary vocal talents shine on the title track "Forever More" and "I wanna live" as well as "One Day At A Time".

No matter what has been thrown at them wether its company record disputes or drug issues they always seem to come up smelling of roses with each gem of an album that still warrants plenty of interest.

I've been a fan of Tesla since I heard "Modern Day Cowboy" from the Mecahnical Resonance album in the late 80's. Incorrectly pigeon holed as a "hair band", they were out of step with the dominant scenes (hair and thrash) but onto something with long lasting appeal. The follow up "The Great Radio Controversey" was also a belter. As the 90's dawned, Tesla's star didn't wain, in fact with the live "5 Man Acoustical Jam", they became even more popular, although, I hated the album. 1991's "Psychotic Supper" was a good solid album. Even with grunge starting to take hold, Tesla seemed to be winning. For a while, anyway. Their 4th studio album "Bust A Nut" was a complete disaster and for the first time, Tesla were at odds with the zeitgeist and seemed to disappear off the face of the planet. I still held a soft spot for them though. Their 2004 album "Into The Now" was an amazing, surprising return and seemed to get them into gear for picking up where they left off. I was lucky enough to see them on tour last year and they haven't lost it. On this year's tour, (twice in 9 months after a 20 year break from the UK good work fellas!) they showcased songs from this new release. Live is never the best way to introduce new songs, there's no re-wind but I liked what I heard. I've lived with this album and...it's a grower. On first listen it's "just a Tesla album", the usual mix of rockers and ballads, with the ever soulful and eternal happy guy Jeff Keith's vocals over the top. After a few listens, what seemed to be a loss of momentum in the middle is actually a well crafted collection of songs. If you're a long time Tesla fan, this is no "Bust A Nut" and is a welcome addition to the back catalogue. If this is your first time Tesla album, I'd recommend "Mechanical" "Radio" or "Into The Now" first and then come back to this. Either way this is quality hard rock by a timeless band.
