Absolutely rockin' September 3, 2006 I saw this band at brixton i think, probably supporting someone like nickelback! They are not a truly original band, but write catchy riffs and killer hooks. the minute killer kicks in with that slight swingtime beat you are dead if your ass isnt moving.
By the way, people may like to know that this band are now called roadstar, and released their album (not available on amazon when i lasted check?!) "grand hotel" this year!
A Big Rock Show January 29, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
saw these guys supporting the darkness the other night at UEA and was stunned that a support band could be so good. the songs they played were all of this CD and were electric!! this band are gonna go far bcoz they are simply superb. Any rock fan who does not like this band are obviously not true rock fans
Breath of fresh air! January 12, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I came across this band on the website myspace. Once i heard a few tracks on there i was hooked. A very underated band indeed. Very much in the mould of The Darkness in the fact that there music sounds very 80ish rock and roll. Of course theres nothing wrong with this as in my opinion it beats some of the more well known artists around nowdays such as Coldplay,Keane and James Blunt. My favourite track has to be Killer which gets me rocking around! Well worth money spent on this little album and as my title says this band is most definately a breath of fresh air!
Roadstar December 4, 2005 Saw this band playing on the new school of rock tour a while back and were simply blown away by them. Being stupidly poor i couldn't afford the EP at the time but it wasn't long before my well earned cash was spent. The first thing that hit me about this EP was that there are slower songs on it, don't get me wrong they are bloody good but live they played nothing but fast songs, perhaps the effect of a short stage time, so this was a little bit unexpected. However it is defianlty in their more upbeat material that they impress, big rock show is immense, the type of song designed for mass singalong (this did indeed happen at the show.) The best song by a mile though is roadstar, so brillaint infact that, owing to recent global events, when the band decided to change their name roadstar became the obvious choice. Remember the new name and catch 'em live as soon as you can!
BIG ROCK SHOW October 13, 2005 I saw them live in September at Scarborough Castle. There were about six other bands on the second stage who were good but Hurricane Party stood out a mile. I'd never heard their music before, amazing, they really rocked.Although they remind me of some of the glam rock bands of the 80s ( Not a critisism), their music sounds refreshingly up to date and their look is great. I bought their CD after the show, every song on it is excellent, can't wait for a full album as I've played this CD to death. If you get chance to see HP live, don't hesitate, you'll be blown away.
